Director & Chartered Financial Planner
His career has seen him in both management and financial advice roles; including a period running the Birmingham operation for national firm, Chase de Vere.
James achieved the prestigious Chartered status in 2018 through “hard graft and determination.” He strongly believes that it’s never too late to push and improve yourself (“no matter how ancient you are!”); an example he was pleased to be able to set for his two children.
Today, James specialises in creating clear and coherent paths for wealthy families and those who are approaching retirement. James’ unique skill in taking perceived complexity and making it logical enables his clients to engage and understand the process fully; the end goal being a fulfilling financial lifestyle and a sustainable future for their whole family. Our clients are his drive to make a difference.
James is married to Lydia, who he originally met at Millfield School when he was 16. 34 years later, their paths crossed again! The couple have two granddaughters. James is very close to his son and daughter, who are both in their 20s. They have a lot of fun together as a family, which is important to them all.
Travelling has become more and more important to James over the years. India, Australia, Costa Rica, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam have been his favourite destinations. He and Lydia also love Cornwall and wish to see a lot more of the UK together with their Cavapoo Tilly by their side.
Ever since his Millfield School days, James has loved sport; both as a watcher and a participant. He plays on an annual cricket tour which began in 1989 when he graduated from Birmingham University. He also plays golf. The rest is what he would call “a constant battle to slow the ageing process”; cycling, swimming, walking Tilly and going to the gym.
As a graduate of Economics and Politics, James enjoys both domestic and global current affairs. He’s fascinated by Mr Trump, who makes him even more proud to be British!
